Trout Creek Estate is located in a private 36-acre reserve. Its heavily wooded mountains, year-round stream, beaver ponds, and grassy meadow, provide an almost perfect alpine habitat for the Deer, Elk, Bears, Beaver, Fox, Canadian Geese, and Wild Turkeys, that are an important part of the Trout Creek experience. It is also perfect for the human species. A place to escape to and connect with each other and nature. A place where you can fish, hike, picnic, or read in a hammock in perfect silence with deer grazing a few yards away…and you get all this without mosquitos. Now that’s perfect!

Wildlife

We have our favorites, as I am certain you will. Deer arrive almost daily in family groups and small herds to drink at the pond and graze on the meadow grass. “Mama Bear” shows up each spring with her cubs and is a regular early morning sight drinking at the pond. “Shy Baby”, our fox, often joins us at the fire pit, and our Canadian Geese couple shows up like clockwork every spring and on occasion remain to hatch their baby’s, Gosling’s.

We encourage you to enjoy the animals, but respect their natural fear of humans and give them their space by not approaching them.

Fishing and Pond

The pond was originally built by our beavers who continue to build ponds along the stream that are a critical part of the “preserves” eco system. We encourage guests to experience the preserve exploring your 12 acres of alpine wilderness.

Fishing is excellent and while we ask that you practice, “catch and release”, please feel welcome to have a fresh trout dinner or snack during your stay. A License is not required and we provide basic fishing gear, tackle, and a row boat to get the “big one”.

Exploring

It’s fun to explore the property on foot experiencing nature in its backyard. We have not built hiking trails but the deer have and we regularly follow their paths to the top of our mountains for a view of Pikes Peak and the valley. Stop and have a snack or casual picnic and take in the environment.

Please respect the environment and keep all motorized vehicles on the road. Fire is always a concern and we ask that you are especially vigilant when disposing of cigarettes and extinguishing the fire pit.
